Kathleen Fergus, MS, is a board certified genetic counselor who has worked extensively with people affected by Down syndrome and their families. She also works as a freelance medical writer specializing in genetic disorders and health information on the Internet.
Kathleen’s areas of specialty include diagnosing and providing support to families affected by genetic conditions. As a genetic counselor, she specialize in rare genetic disorders and is trained to deal with both the medical and psychosocial issues that can accompany the diagnosis of a genetic disorder. Kathleen has also worked as a health educator and project manager developing health education materials on rare genetic disorders.
Kathleen received her undergraduate degree in Cell and Molecular Biology from San Francisco State University and her Master’s degree in Human Genetics at the University of California at Irvine. She is board certified in Human Genetics and Genetic Counseling by the American College of Medical Genetics.
